Collection: Pot Pals

POT PALS is a collaborative zine of ceramics and illustration

The format is simple: for each issue I curate a group of illustrators and comic artists, ask them to draw their interpretations of a pot, and I make it.

Since the prompt is so open-ended, the fun of the project is in seeing the wide variety of designs the artists submit from more straight forward and traditional to avant-garde and silly.

Each design represents a different artist’s perspective and style and my role in the collaboration is to try and translate that two-dimensional design into a ceramic object.

With each piece I aim to inhabit that artist’s style and work from their perspective to achieve a successful collaboration. By taking on that individual’s design sense and use of line quality and shape I hope to translate the design into a new context, giving each piece its own personality and individuality. The goal is not to directly replicate the design, but rather to interpret another artist’s work through my own lens.
